This was my cat the other night. It was dark but it went on so long I took a pic and it used the flash. At one point I turned on the flashlight on my phone and inspected the ceiling and wall in case there was a spider or something up there. Nope nothing up there. It went on for about 10 minutes and he was mesmerized the whole time. Then he left and came back again for another 5 minutes of gazing. I gave me the creeps!!

I found this too. Whatever is going on I would appreciate if he limited his creepy behavior to daylight hours.

Good article. I love the part about calling your Veterinarian and telling her the cat is staring at the wall. My Vet is 70 yrs old and still practicing. She is a riot. I can only imagine her response. I'm guessing she would ask me what I wanted her to do about it 😂

My cat does that. Usually I am able to tell what it is. Sometimes it's a bug that I can see. Sometimes I can hear a mouse in the ceiling. Once in a while I can't tell what she's after but I assume it's probably a mouse only making enough noise for the cat to hear it.

Cats have very good hearing and can hear much higher frequencies that humans. Mice make a lot of sounds that are too high pitched for humans to hear.

If in doubt, you could burn some sage. :giggle:

I do that once a month anyway. Evidently I need to step up the schedule a notch.

Mrs B: It's our cat. He doesn't do anything. He just sits out there on the lawn.
Vet: Is he ... dead?
Mr A: Oh, no!

Vet: (to camera dramaticaly) Thank God for that. For one ghastly moment I thought I was... too late. If only more people would call in the nick of time.

Mrs B: He just sits there, all day and every day.
...
Vet: In a way, in a way ... hum ... moping, I must remember that. Now, what's to be done? Tell me sir, have you confused your cat recently?

Mrs B: Sh! No.

Vet: Yes ... well I think I can definitely say that your cat badly needs to be confused.

That was interesting. Let us hope there was a hidden critter in the wall.
I dunno.

Having dealt with rodent damage, in a seasonal cabin that stood empty winters...I'd rather it was that the cat had a tummyache and was zoning out.

You can take a cat to the vet. Getting rats out of a house, is a long, involved process.

My bird does that. He doesn't look at walls but looks out in the distance. He's like a statue. When he does I try to figure out what he's looking at. I can't see anything but birds have excellent vision and I don't.

Other matter (living beings) invisible to human eyes.
So who knows what cats can see. Interesting. I would prefer living beings from the other side not float over the bed at night. I believe loved ones from the other side stay close. However they need to keep their visits to daytime hours.

avalon - you need an AI device that reads the cat's face/body language and coverts it to language. in essence, your cat could then talk to you

although it might be shocking what it says :) hey bitch, my food bowl is empty AGAIN....wtf?

How awesome would that be. When we get our AI implants in our brains maybe we can communicate with our animals. :ROFLMAO:

i can only read one face signal from my kid's cat. i call it side ear. ask cat if it wants food/wants to go outside. if no, it will turn one/both ears from facing forward to facing the side. side ear = no. check your cat for this message

need an AI cat reader/talker

I was just thinking...all that superhuman eyesight, tied to a CAT brain.

Now, I like cats. I'm not talking trash about cats or cat-ladies. ;). But having lived with them, long term...it never ceases to amaze me how STUPID they can be, when outside of their normal venues. That is, when not climbing trees, killing birds, or yowling on the fence.

Like, watching a cat walk by a MIRROR that's eye-height for it. The ferocity it will attack that mirror, might be enough to knock it off the hangers.

No, I don't think knowing what a cat is thinking would be overly inspiring. Maybe frightful, even...
