Refresher for the experienced training for newbies, IMO.Gunfight Rules

"Peace is that brief glorious moment in history when everybody stands around reloading."
In a gunfight, the most important rule is ... HAVE A GUN!
The following are shooting tips from various Concealed Carry Instructors. If you own a gun, you will appreciate these rules... If not, you should get one, learn how to use it, and learn the rules.

RULES

A.) Guns have only two enemies: Rust and Politicians. Rust can be prevented, Politicians cannot.
B.) It's always better to be judged by 12 than carried out by 6.
C.) Cops carry guns to protect themselves, not you
D.) Never let someone or something that threatens you get within 7 yards.
E.) Never say "I've got a gun." If you need to use deadly force, the first sound they should hear is the safety clicking off, or the hammer cocking.
F.) The average response time of a 911 call is 23 minutes ....when only seconds count; the response time of a .357 is 1,400 feet per second.
G.) The most important rule in a gunfight is: Always Win - there is no such thing as a fair fight. Always Win - cheat if necessary. Always Win - 2nd place doesn't count.
H.) Make your attacker advance through a wall of bullets ... you may get killed with your own gun, but they'll have to beat you to death with it because it will be empty.
I.) If you're in a gun fight: a) If you're not shooting, you should be reloading. (b) If you're not reloading, you should be moving.(c) If you're not moving, you're dead.
J.) In a life and death situation, do something ... it may be wrong, but do something!
K.) If you carry a gun, people will call you paranoid. Nonsense! If you have a gun, what do you have to be paranoid about?
L.) Never fire a warning shot, that is just one wasted bullet, which could be needed within moments.
M.) You can say "stop" or any other word, but a large bore muzzle pointed at someone's head is pretty much a universal language; and, you won't have to press 1 for Spanish/Mexican, or 2 for Chinese, or 3 for Arabic.
N.) Never leave a wounded enemy behind. If you have to shoot, shoot to kill. In court, yours will be the only testimony.*
O.) You cannot save the planet, but you may be able to save yourself and your family.
If you believe in the 2nd Amendment, forward this to others you know who also believe.
*N- a. A body is evidence but can not testify. Gb

With so many cameras around these days, best to be careful with that. If the threat is “neutralize” and you continue, then it could be judged as murder.

Once you start shooting don't stop until you are empty. No body can tell when aggressive action has been neutralized. Once you are empty, reload, and then call the police. Keep your eye on the previous aggressor and kick any potential weapon(s) close to the perp far enough away so you have reaction time.
Then Make sure you punch in 9/1/1 carefully so you get through to the dispatcher and ask for police first.
When life can expire in seconds police and 1st aid are about 15-20 min. away.
As the post sez - A body is evidence but it can not testify.
and
Better to be tried by 12 than carried by 6.
Slow is fast and fast is good, be good and slow in that order.

"it takes a bigger man to walk away from a fight than it does to walk into a fight"

my dad taught me that. . .

i sorta finished it by adding:

"but, if you have no choice, fight to win"
NEVER turn your back on a fight, walk away backwards.
There is no such thing as a "Fair Fight" a fair fight is a sport.
He who fights and can walk away lives to fight another day, and probably not the same perpetrator.

You can say they same thing how the woketards view the world bitching about older gens. - Entirely different worlds.
They need to get the plank out of their eye instead of bitching about splinters of the past.
Back to Topic.

in my opinion first rule is avoid if at all possible.........not much good can come from any kind of fight no matter how it turns out ....be situationally aware at all times
Exactly. I made it through my entire jail/ prison bid without a single scuffle. It's not hard of you don't take yourself too seriously.

What has always and still does puzzle me is that when a flying tank driver bombs a village and kills everyone, he gets an award.

When an Infantry platoon burns down an enemy village that has been the source of the death of many of their comrades, it is a war crime and they go to prison or they are executed.

Failing to understand help me please.

Divorce is expensive.

my training was about the ocean and IMT is a title i've never heard of, but i know some of the very basics...i'm probably gonna die
(*snicker*) gringott has given you what you need. Now go and practice the moves those important words depict so clearly.

So that your neighbors don't get worried, do it somewhere private. Choose a spot to get to. Go.

When you move, move fast -- and within 3-5 seconds get to cover. Mentally easy, but try it twice. Worth doing to learn what you don't yet know about your body's capability to keep itself alive. "Alive in 3 to 5"

The best place to pratice your low crawl is a pit of dirt and dust, keep your face down and keep moving. Have somebody give you the boot now and then to keep you moving. If you raise your ass they should boot you back down. You will learn quick.

Eat dirt dudes the lower the better.

The one thing the 12 double Medal of Honor winners shared: They were physically short.

Smaller target = winning a gunfight.

I once read a hometown newspaper story about my CSM at the time, CSM Steward. He got the Silver Star and that was what the story was about.
The best I remember it, he was PSG, no LT, patrol base in the bush. They were hit hard and outnumbered by the VC. He got the award not for killing a shitload or anything like that. He was commended for his actions. What he did was remain upright, directing fire, redistributing ammo grenades etc. Walking around to joes positions in the hasty patrol base. As if everybody was firing blanks. Total disregard for his own safety, he understood that joe was scared and everybody was in danger of becoming a statistic. So he presented the example and joe fought back and won. He lived to tell the tale so to speak.

That is how to win a gunfight.
