Jennifer Crumbley, mother of Ethan Crumbley, found guilty of involuntary manslaughter in son’s school shooting

PONTIAC, Mich. — Jennifer Crumbley, the Michigan woman charged in connection with her son’s deadly school shooting rampage in 2021, was convicted Tuesday of involuntary manslaughter in the unprecedented case.

The unanimous verdict came on the second day of jury deliberations in a landmark trial that turned on an unusual question: Can the parent of a child who commits a mass shooting also be held criminally responsible?

Crumbley, 45, was charged with four counts of involuntary manslaughter — one for each of the victims in the attack at Oxford High School in November 2021. Her son, Ethan, pleaded guilty as an adult to murder, terrorism and other crimes, and was sentenced in December to life in prison without parole.

Life in prison.

Did they ever figure out what his 'problem' was?

Poor parenting. Should have homeschooled their kid instead of relying on the government public fool system.

I think we may see more of this as related to school (kid) shootings. Sad truth is that a lot of the shooter probably exhibit signs of mental illness / depression long before they snap. Maybe time for a school counselor, coach or clergy to intervene.

Making parents responsible for child behavior when 'professionals' are employed by the school...

Probably should have put the professionals on trial instead!

Making parents responsible for child behavior ...

I don't know the details of the case/ruling, but parents are, IMO, responsible for the security of firearms they own. If they let their children have access to the firearms, they bear some responsibility for what happens. Same issue with parents letting kids drive their cars or drink their alcohol.

This sounds like a really dangerous grey area. I hope they are drawing some sharp lines with good reasoning.

I think you're going to see more cases like this in the future.

Parents of Michigan School Shooter Ethan Crumbley Sentenced to 10-15 Years in Prison

A Michigan judge sentenced the parents of a teenager who killed four classmates at his high school to 10-15 years in prison each, the first parents of a school shooter to be held directly responsible for their child’s attack.

James and Jennifer Crumbley were each convicted of four counts of unintentional homicide in separate trials that ended in February and March. Their son, Ethan Crumbley, pleaded guilty to four counts of murder in the killings at Oxford High School about 40 miles north of Detroit and is serving life in prison.

Prosecutors had sought 10 to 15 years each for the parents, higher than state minimum sentencing recommendations of 43 to 86 months, citing what they called a lack of remorse by the parents and threatening comments directed at the district attorney made by James Crumbley in jailhouse telephone calls.

James Crumbley asked to be sentenced to time served. His lawyer said in a filing that his threats against the prosecutor weren’t physical and he was venting to loved ones about his situation. Jennifer Crumbley also sought to avoid prison time by serving any additional sentence beyond time served in the guesthouse of her lawyer under electronic monitoring.

So let me get this straight. Leftists are coming straight out and telling parents that the kids belong to the groomers (teachers). If they tell the kid he is gender confused, there is nothing the parents can do about it. They can even put the kid on puberty blockers if they want and the parents can go pound sand. If the parents object to any of the weird shit the groomers are forcing on the kids, the groomers can make the police take the kids away from the parents.

But let the idiot bastard shoot up the school, and now the parents can be held responsible? For God's sake! Make up your damn minds. Sounds to me like they want their cake and eat it too.

If they can hold the parents of this kid responsible, when are they going to go after the parents of that tranny who shot up the Christian school? How about the parents of the gangbangers who shoot up Chicago and Philadelphia every night? Or are they going to pick and choose?

The father seems to be a worthless POS. No wonder where the kid gets his anger and hatred from. Read this article before defending that scumbag MF.

And the mother is a skank. But, worthless human beings that they are, can they be held criminally liable for the actions of their child. And, if so, doesn't that set a precedent for all school shooters and their parents?

I'd be fine if they go after the parents if the kids are juveniles and courts can prove wrong doing. Bringing offspring into this world carries some responsibilty.
In NY state parents can petition the courts to reliquish the parental resposibilities via PINS law.

A child under the age of 18 who does not attend school, or behaves in a way that is dangerous or out of control, or often disobeys his or her parents, guardians or other authorities, may be found to be a Person In Need of Supervision or "PINS". All PINS proceedings are heard in Family Court.

Funny how it leaves out government interfering in family matters....

Spank "your" child and get charged with child abuse by the government...?

"Spare the rod and spoil the child" is a cliché for a reason....

Kid needed attention and he got it....

Update:

The father should just claim immigrant status. Immediate revoke his "citizenship". then he'd be fine and allowed to do Actual crimes himself.
