So cut defense spending. At least half the money is wasted anyways.In other words, almost all the money that the government spends is either mandatory entitlement programs (like Social Security and Medicare), interest on the debt, or defense.

Why is it that anyone in DC who takes a hard stand for fiscal responsibility, is always portrayed as a whack job?
Edited to add: all they gotta do is cut the extra spending that came about during the wuflu bs, and go back to 2019's level of spending.
Do that and we'd be really close to a balanced budget. Go back to 2018 spending levels and we would have a balanced budget and be able to start paying down our government's debt.
