To the editor: While I've been critical of columnist Jonah Goldberg in the past, he hit the nail on the head regarding political rhetoric in this year's election, particularly regarding the truth behind former President Trump being a "threat to democracy."

Claiming that our legal system is rigged because juries and judges keep deciding cases against you — for things like fraud, defamation and sexual abuse — that's a threat to democracy.

Extorting a foreign leader to start a baseless investigation into your political opponent — that's a threat to democracy.

Promoting the "Big Lie" about the 2020 election with absolutely no proof of fraud, thereby undermining confidence in our electoral process — that's a threat to democracy.

Trying to strong-arm a state official into finding votes that don't exist — that's a threat to democracy.

Creating slates of fake electors to upend a free and fair election — that's a threat to democracy.

Pressuring your vice president to exceed his constitutional power in order to keep you in office — that's a threat to democracy.

Musing about terminating the Constitution and being a dictator for a day — that's a threat to democracy.

Summoning a mob and fomenting an insurrection against the government — that's a threat to democracy.

The most hate filled vitriol being spewed right now is coming from the left. Interestingly, there have been 0 on the right who have grabbed guns and taken shots at the media and or Biden/Harris.
Since the left has no policies to run on, they run on hate and rhetoric. Biden calls for a target on Trump and within a month someone is out there shooting at him. Imagine if Trump had called for a target on Harris and someone then took a shot at her?
The left also thinks the right is stupid and we can't see the law fare being used against Trump and any supporters.

Searcher I know your not stupid and I know you can see it too. I hope the current administration is paying you well to help spread this disinformation so they can win and continue to destroy the country.

The same exact words here can be used to describe Trump and his MAGA supporters. It's what Trump has been doing since day one. He constantly calls people names, berates, belittles, bullies, disparages and lies about anyone he perceives as an enemy. All you have to do is to listen to him at his rallies, read his posts, and watch the news.

Remember when he made fun of a disabled reporter. What kind of a person would do this?

Not true. MAGA supporters are NOT violent. The media twists it around every single time. Trump supporters were attacked by goons as they were leaving a Trump rally and the MSM said MAGA was violent.

It's been debunked. That "kind of person" would be called the Mainstream Media because they made it up. Yeah there's video "evidence" however Trump didn't know the reporter was disabled. And WGAF if he did? Bunch of pussies if you ask me!

You know you have to admit that the moment Trump decided to run for POTUS the MSM has denigrated EVERYTHING Trump does. NOBODY is as bad as the MSM makes Trump out to be.

A lot of the stuff Trump does and says is an act. It's called shtick.

He was involved in wrestling and picked up on it there, then went on to reality tv where he had some good coaches. And yes, it's entertaining. I agree with a some of what you said but I don't think it's appropriate for a president. I prefer someone who understands that there are acceptable ways to act in a civil society and behaves accordingly. Nort someone who thinks play acting like Tony Soprano is acceptable. Someone who understands the importance of our treaties with our allies and who will remain committed to those treaties. Someone who acts like a statesman and not a grade school playground bully.

I understand not everyone see things as I do, and I can respect that. Just how I feel.

Michael Cohen says he’ll leave country, change name if Trump wins​

Michael Cohen, former President Trump’s ex-personal attorney, said Tuesday that he plans to flee the country if his former boss wins in November.

“I’m out of here. I mean, I’m already working on a foreign passport with a completely different name,” Cohen told MSNBC’s Nicolle Wallace when asked what he thinks will happen to him if Trump retakes the White House.

“I don’t know how it’s going to work, as far as dealing with my wife and my children,” he continued. “I certainly don’t want them moving to where I’m looking to go.”

The remarks came in a larger discussion about reporting from The New York Times describing some of the GOP nominee’s plans to prosecute his enemies if he returns to office. The Times named Cohen as someone who could be in the crosshairs.

Senator Mitt Romney is “seriously” concerned Donald Trump will target him and his family if he is re-elected in November, his biographer has revealed.

The Republican became the first senator to vote to convict a president of his own party during Trump’s first impeachment trial. Romney was asked by McKay Coppings, his biographer, whether he fears his family would be targeted by Trump if he beats Kamala Harris in the election given their history.

He initially said: “It’s hard for me to imagine that President Trump would take the time to go out and see if [he] can find something on members of my family.”

When pressed again about how his family could be affected, the senator responded: “I’ve got 25 grandkids! How am I going to protect 25 grandkids, two great-grandkids? I’ve got five sons, five daughters-in-law—it’s like, we’re a big group,” The Atlantic reports.

Trump has often threatened to “go after” his enemies. In a speech last year he said: “In 2016, I declared, ‘I am your voice. Today, I add: I am your warrior. I am your justice. And for those who have been wronged and betrayed: I am your retribution.”
