Dec 16, 2023
Taxi aired on ABC from September 1978, to May 1982 and then on NBC for its final season which brought it to an end in 1983. The show followed a motley crew of employees from the Sunshine Cab Company in New York City, which includes Bobby a frustrated actor, Tony the struggling boxer, an art gallery receptionist named Elaine, and Louie the tyrannical dispatcher . For almost everyone, the cab company is just a temporary job on the way to something better, but at the core of the company is disillusioned Alex, who's sure he will be driving a cab for the rest of his life. A Burned-out ex-hippie minister called Reverend Jim and a strange mechanic named Latka round out the group. But what happened to the cast after the show ended?

Feb 17, 2024

Welcome Back, Kotter aired on ABC from September 9, 1975, through May 17, 1979. It followed the former Sweathog Gabe Kotter who returns to his alma mater, Buchanan High School to teach a new generation of Sweathogs, a group of supposedly unteachable, under-achieving and incorrigible teenagers. There was Vinnie Barbarino, the group's; wisecracking leader; Juan Epstein, a Puerto Rican Jew; dimwitted Arnold Horshack; and the cool Freddie "Boom-Boom" Washington. This Cute Kid From Home Improvement Is Not Who You Think (Zachery Ty Bryan)

Aug 2, 2024 #recollectionroad #movies #tv

Home Improvement had an 8 season run in the 1990s, where it remained popular mainly because of the antics of Tim “The Tool Man” Taylor, but also because of the focus on family with many episodes ending with a valuable life lesson. Tens of millions of viewers tuned in on a weekly basis to witness the struggles faced by Tim, his wife Jill, and their three sons, which mirrored the everyday challenges most middle-class households were dealing with. Zachery Ty Byran played Brad, the oldest of the sons, who generally garnered less attention than his on screen brother, the teen heartthrob Jonathan Taylor Thomas. By the time the show ended in 1999, Zachary Ty Bryan didn’t have many prospects, and yet somehow he managed to make a fortune during the crypto currency craze. Unfortunately, though, his ideal Hollywood life came crashing down with devastating allegations of fraud, and numerous run-ins with law enforcement that changed his life forever.

This Teenager Completely Fooled Everyone in Hollywood (Riley Weston)

Aug 15, 2024 #recollectionroad #movies #tv

When Entertainment Weekly featured an 18-year-old Riley Weston on its "It List" of the 100 most creative individuals in the summer of 1998, they had no idea the true extent of Weston's creativity. You see, in the mid 1990s, she had grown frustrated from 14 years spent in Hollywood without much success, so she took matters into her own hands and reinvented herself. In actuality, Weston was 32 years old, but decided she could pass as a teenager so she legally changed her name to hide her identity. She also began writing while misrepresenting herself to talent agencies, colleagues, and studios. Hollywood quickly recognized her young talent and she was hired as a writer on the popular WB show Felicity. She was on top of the world with her new life, and she was heralded as a teen writing prodigy. But on October 15, 1998 reality and fantasy collided, and the truth finally came out.

This Hollywood Bombshell Invented WiFi, Bluetooth, and GPS (Hedy Lamarr)

Oct 18, 2024
In the 1940s, Hedy Lamarr was one of Hollywood's most famous and strikingly beautiful actresses. Despite her prominent roles in numerous films and frequent appearances on celebrity magazine covers, few knew that she was obsessed with science and was also an inventor on many levels. Instead of attending glamorous Hollywood parties after a long day at MGM Studios, Hedy often chose to spend her evenings tinkering. Despite not having formal training in engineering or mathematics, she demonstrated incredible ingenuity, coming up with practical solutions for many everyday problems. Some of her inventions included a tissue box attachment for disposing of used tissues and a glow-in-the-dark collar for dogs. But perhaps her most significant invention was something called frequency hopping, a technology that played a critical role during future wars and eventually contributed to the development of WiFi, Bluetooth, and GPS.
