If the DOJ has evidence to bring charges............why haven't they charged anyone yet?

I'm starting to think it's time to shit or get off the pot.
"If" is the operative word... also everyone seems to think this is the Perry Mason TV hour where crimes are solved in less than 1 hour....

In this vein: "The wheels of justice turn slowly, but grind exceedingly fine."

I'm still waiting for Putin to die from cancer and the 'final report' from Durham...

J6 Defendants: Victims of Shameful Politicization of Justice

J6 defendants are subjected to a politicized justice system with many still detained in jail without trial 2 years later.

By Wendi Strauch Mahoney
View original

The United States Department of Justice (DOJ) has politicized J6 to such an extent that it has effectively withheld exculpatory evidence from J6 defendants and their attorneys. As Mike Davis, former Chief Counsel for the Senate Judiciary Committee, pointed out, a lawyer should not have to go to a “room in the basement of the Capitol during COVID” to find a needle in a haystack.

There are allegedly over 40,000 hours of J6 footage that have not yet been made public. Tucker Carlson “destroyed the insurrection narrative” on Monday’s show with video excerpts from the event. Carlson commented, “Taken as a whole, the video record does not support the claim that January 6 was an insurrection. In fact, it demolishes that claim. You would never have known from the media coverage.” President Trump praised McCarthy and Tucker Carlson for the release of the footage.

Hundreds of people are still being mistreated and held in jails without a trial for entering the Capitol. Many did nothing more than look around. Carlson showed video evidence of Jacob Chansley being escorted around by the Capitol police. According to the DOJ, he is currently serving 41 months in prison “for criminal conduct” that amounted to his wandering around with a Viking hat, a megaphone, and an American flag. His lawyer thinks he may be released soon.

On Tuesday, Davis commented on the DOJ handling Chansley’s case on Bannon’s War Room. Davis states

“[The] Justice Department has an obligation under the Constitution to provide to defendants exculpatory evidence. Tucker’s video showed clear exculpatory evidence that Jacob Chansley should not be in prison for 41 months.”

Davis explained that “it’s not good enough” just to tell attorneys that video footage is available. “There is this constitutional case called Brady where the prosecutors have to turn over to the defense attorneys exculpatory evidence. They didn’t do that here.”

Meanwhile, Democrats like Sen. Chuck Schumer are condemning Carlson’s “shameful hour” on the Senate floor while asking Fox News to stop releasing the January 6 videos. He says Carlson and others are “lying about the J6 protests” by saying it was not an insurrection.

BOOM!

first one out of the box!

Dear Conservatives, I Apologize

My "Team" was Taken in By Full-Spectrum Propaganda

Dr Naomi Wolf

There is no way to avoid this moment. The formal letter of apology. From me. To Conservatives and to those who “put America first” everywhere.

It’s tempting to sweep this confrontation with my own gullibility under the rug — to “move on” without ever acknowledging that I was duped, and that as a result I made mistakes in judgement, and that these mistakes, multiplied by the tens of thousands and millions on the part of people just like me, hurt millions of other people like you all, in existential ways.

But that erasure of personal and public history would be wrong.

I owe you a full-throated apology.

I believed a farrago of lies. And, as a result of these lies, and my credulity — and the credulity of people similarly situated to me - many conservatives’ reputations are being tarnished, on false bases.

The proximate cause of this letter of apology is the airing, two nights ago, of excepts from tens of thousands of hours of security camera footage from the United States Capitol taken on Jan 6, 2021. The footage was released by House Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) to Fox News commentator Tucker Carlson [https://www.axios.com/2023/03/08/mccarthy-defends-jan-6-footage-tucker-carlson-fox-news].

While “fact-checkers” state that it is “misinformation” to claim that Congresswoman Nancy Pelosi was in charge of Capitol Police on that day [https://www.usatoday.com/story/news...osi-isnt-in-charge-capitol-police/8082088002/], the fact is that the USCP is under the oversight of Congress, according to — the United States Capitol Police: [https://www.uscp.gov/the-department/oversight].

This would be the same Congress that convened the January 6 Committee subsequently, and that used millions of dollars in taxpayer money to turn that horrible day, and that tragic event, into a message point that would be used to tar a former President as a would-be terrorist, and to smear all Republicans, by association, as “insurrectionists,” or as insurrectionists’ sympathizers and fellow-travelers.

There is no way to unsee Officer Brian Sicknick, claimed by some Democrats in leadership and by most of the legacy media to have been killed by rioters at the Capitol that day, alive in at least one section of the newly released video. The USCP medical examiner states that this Officer died of “natural causes,” but also that he died “in the line of duty.” Whatever the truth of this confusing conclusion, and with all respect for and condolences to Officer Sicknick’s family, the circumstances of his death do matter to the public, as without his death having been caused by the events of Jan 6, the breach of the capitol, serious though it was, cannot be described as a “deadly insurrection.” [https://www.uscp.gov/media-center/p...cp-officer-brian-sicknick-died-natural-causes] Sadly, though the contrary was what was reported, Officer Sicknick died two days after Jan 6, from suffering two strokes. https://lawandcrime.com/u-s-capitol...suffering-two-strokes-day-after-jan-6-report/

There is no way for anyone thoughtful, even if he or she is a lifelong Democrat, not to notice that Sen Chuck Schumer did not say to the world that the footage that Mr Carlson aired was not real. Rather, he warned that it was “shameful” for Fox to allow us to see it. The Guardian characterized Mr Carlson’s and Fox News’ sin, weirdly, as “Over-Use” of Jan 6 footage. Isn’t the press supposed to want full transparency for all public interest events? [https://www.theguardian.com/us-news...dicare-taxes-desantis-trump-2024-live-updates] How can you “over-use” real footage of events of national relevance?

Exactly!

Caught with their hand in the cookie jar and mad that you found out!

She was hawking her books in 2008 at the march we had for Ron Paul in Washington DC. She has been exposed to us libertarians for a long time. She should’ve known better.
She wasn't wrong though....

Experienced it personally many moons ago.

Withholding evidence, outright lies, phony witnesses. The whole shebang.

Thank god for juries who can see through bullshit.
So why would you want it to happen to other Americans?

One thing...........fuck words. Always go for proof. No proof............no conviction.
Doesn't the video we can all now see, constitute proof that things were not as they've been portrayed?

Also believe in reparations for anyone falsely accused by the cops or prosecutors. You shouldn't have to spend your own money to prove you are innocent.
I agree.

Don't trust cops, prosecutors or judges. Our system of justice has been broken for a long time.
So why trust the ones prosecuting and judging the Jan 6th defendants? They're Americans with the same Rights as you. If they can have evidence withheld and held for extended period without trial, so can you. Are you ok with that happening to you? If not, extend that same attitude to them, too.

no charges against the instigators
Yep, they ignored those that actually instigated the whole things and did not charge them. They got Ray Epps on video encouraging people to go inside.

They charged people with "violent entry" for having merely walked through a door, yet fail to do anything to the guy actively telling people to do so?

How is what he did, not considered incitement?
Edited to add: if he convinced people to commit what we are told is violent acts, why is what he did not considered to be inciting violence? Sure seems like it should be.

I am starting to think something stinks.
About f'ing time. For two years you hung on Liz's every word on this, as though it was gospel. I sincerely hope you are starting to see the railroading for what it was.

No matter how we feel politically, imho it is imperative that we stand up for each others Rights. Even if we personally believe someone guity, we should want them to have their Rights protected and to truly receive a fair trial, for as you found out, it could be any of us next time.
....and the gov is made up of people who sometimes make honest mistakes, or even sometimes do the wrong thing. All citizens need protection from that.

If the DOJ has evidence to bring charges............why haven't they charged anyone yet?
Could it be because the ones they failed to charge were agent provocateurs? That'd be my guess. Otherwise, why ignore people who actually did violence that day, and instead go after those seen as political opponents with a vengeance?

I'm starting to think it's time to shit or get off the pot.
It's waaay past that time

When you realize you've been gaslighted for the last 2 years by the government....

Started laughing when I read this. You've been going strong (multi-quoting) like this a long time. Gotta give you credit. You're not a quitter.

Because it is quick and easy to highlight text and add to quote as I scroll through a thread.
.....now, how 'bout responding to what I actually posted? You are participating in a discussion forum, so let's continue the discussion. You started the conversation, and it is your thread, no? Edited to add: I just checked, and I guess this one ain't yours, but you've been a big part of it, so don't stop now.

and it is your thread, no?

No.........Goldhedge started the thread.

So why would you want it to happen to other Americans?

I don't wish what happened to me (falsely accused) to happen to anyone. Not a good experience.

It does and it doesn't. I watched him screaming like a psycho on different video segments.

I also know how cops, prosecutors, defense lawyers can portray things to get them to look favorable to different audiences. They are kind of like actors on a stage playing to the public or to a jury to garner sympathy for their cause and the truth be dammed. It's winning that counts.

Not trusting anyone. Most (if not all) of the people charged were literally caught on tape doing something crazy. A lot have admitted doing shit.
They have kinda helped the prosecutors hang them so-to-speak.

In my case, when I heard I was going to be charged I split the scene, got a lawyer, gathered evidence to prove I was innocent, turned myself in with my lawyer by my side, was ROR, went to trial, found not guilty in less than one hour and walked out of the court laughing. I had proof that was indisputable. Had the cops involved simply checked they would have known that.

The major difference between me and them is that I was nowhere near the crime and could prove it. These people were there and were caught on tape. Some bragged about it on social media. Some told their friends. They ratted themselves out.

Yep, they ignored those that actually instigated the whole things and did not charge them.

This is the one thing I really don't get. Why?

For two years you hung on Liz's every word on this

Nah. Watched the Jan 6 show and formulated my own opinions. They really didn't dwell on the actual rioters. They were focused on the who initiated it and how they went about it.

Even if we personally believe someone guity, we should want them to have their Rights protected and to truly receive a fair trial, for as you found out, it could be any of us next time.

Absolutely agree 100% with this.

Could it be because the ones they failed to charge were agent provocateurs? That'd be my guess. Otherwise, why ignore people who actually did violence that day, and instead go after those seen as political opponents with a vengeance?

Can't answer this. Merrick Garland needs to go on to tv and explain everything that's been going on to the American people.

It's waaay past that time

Agree 100%.

It does and it doesn't. I watched him screaming like a psycho on different video segments.
Screaming constitutes a crime worthy of 41 Months in prison?
....and are you talking about the vid of him that was in post #249?

You mean like they've done with people like Chansley?

Not trusting anyone. Most (if not all) of the people charged were literally caught on tape doing something crazy.
Like what? They said that Chansley was the worst one there, but now video evidence shows otherwise.

A lot have admitted doing shit.
They have kinda helped the prosecutors hang them so-to-speak
No, a lot copped pleas due to being in what looked like a hopeless situation.
If the choice is to sign a paper admitting to something so you only get so many Months in jail, or to be run through a kangaroo court where you'll get railroaded (withholding exculpatory evidence constitutes railroading) into many years in prison, what would you do?

Glad it worked out for ya.

This is the one thing I really don't get. Why?
What are some reasons you might think they would not charge people that the gov knew were actually being violent?

Nah. Watched the Jan 6 show and formulated my own opinions
....based on incomplete and misleading information, obviously.

They really didn't dwell on the actual rioters.
Of course not. They were on a witch hunt for President Trump due to him having beat their tired old hag.

They were focused on the who initiated it and how they went about it.
It's looking as though the initiators/instigators was the gov itself.

Absolutely agree 100% with this
Glad to hear that.

Can't answer this. Merrick Garland needs to go on to tv and explain everything that's been going on to the American people
Yea right, he's gonna go on tv and explain how he had his thumb on the scales of Justice? Fat chance of that.

Agree 100%.
Again, glad to hear that.

Nah. Watched the Jan 6 show and formulated my own opinions. They really didn't dwell on the actual rioters. They were focused on the who initiated it and how they went about it.
This is the stuff of a Greek Tragedy.

Too bad they had already formulated their talking points (speaks of preplanning, i.e., conspiracy) to blame Trump and Trump supporters.

It's really quite easy to accomplish their objective. It can be done with any large group of people.

You merely have to front-run the crowd and create havoc.

CROWD BEHAVIOR

"the symptomatic behavior of a set of individuals who come together for a transitory period of time while their interest is centered upon the same item or occurrence.
CROWD BEHAVIOR: "During concerts, mosh pits as not atypical of crown behavior."

Here they cover Jan 6 as well as prehistoric events.

Why do some mass gatherings turn violent? Experts in crowd behavior say there’s still much to learn.

That's what happened on Jan 6. 'Someone' (yet to be determined - but I have my suspicions) planned it all out. They knew there would be a crowd in advance (because they applied for and received a permit to rally AT the WH!). It was a simple thing to hijack the event using violence and a few well placed 'actors' (Ray Epps for ex). They even did it during the 'mostly peaceful' Antifa riots.

Then they had the audacity to promote their talking points with the media backing up their allegations that "Trump MAGA supporters are violent people and we need to put a damper on these violent insurrectionists!"

But it didn't go as planned. The truth came out!

What we've just been entertained with is "the truth". First the lies, then the truth! Now we all know (even the doubting Thomases) the Unselect Committee were lying from the gitgo. We had our 'suspicions', but now we KNOW this to be the case. Jan 6 was the coverup of their November 3rd insurrection. Anyone ignoring this reality is deceiving themselves.

"She" was 'supposed' to win, but Trump won. We here know the story: Trump wasn't an insider and they did everything in their illegal power to oust him from office.

But it was too little, too late. They tried every trick and they failed. Why? The 'Trump Quicksand'. Many have tried and failed. They're still trying and failing because "TRUTH wins in the end". Q

There is a reason Trump hung Andrew Jackson's and Abraham Lincoln's portraits in the Oval Office. Jackson and Lincoln are just dead presidents to most people, but if you study history you saw the implications that escaped most everyone. American's don't understand history because 'history is boring'. History isn't boring, it's the way they TEACH history that is 'boring'.

It's all just another "goat song" in the end.

Like what? They said that Chansley was the worst one there, but now video evidence shows otherwise.

I don't think Chansley was the worst one there, but he pissed of a judge big time.

Best I can come up with.

Glad it worked out for ya.

Thanks.

What are some reasons you might think they would not charge people that the gov knew were actually being violent?

....based on incomplete and misleading information, obviously.

Of course not. They were on a witch hunt for President Trump due to him having beat their tired old hag.

I'm not talking about the rioters. Not at all. To be honest I consider them to be fools and dupes for listening to Trump and his cohorts. And it's them I'm talking about.

-Trump = the election was stolen
-Rudy Giuliani = trial by combat
-Peter Navarro = greenbay sweep
-John Eastman = it wasn't a lie, it was a theory
-Josh Hawley = black power salute to rioters
-Jim Jordan = key player
-Mo Brooks = better wear a bullet proof vest least I get shot

The list is long. These are the ones I want to see charged.

Of course not. They were on a witch hunt for President Trump due to him having beat their tired old hag.

You made me laugh. Thanks.

It's looking as though the initiators/instigators was the gov itself.

It was. Trump was the prez. His peeps worked for him (the gov.)

Glad to hear that.

Yea right, he's gonna go on tv and explain how he had his thumb on the scales of Justice? Fat chance of that.

I do believe you are right about this.

Again, glad to hear that.

I don't think Chansley was the worst one there, but he pissed of a judge big time.
Your own video shows Chansley not being violent. It shows him walk through it while at the same time shows unidentified people breaking windows. Yet we were told that Chansley was violent? Your video proves that was not so.

It was. Trump was the prez. His peeps worked for him (the gov.)
No, the entrenched powers in gov that were there before Trump got there, are the ones who would be served by setting this up in order to make Trump and his supporters look bad.

You made me laugh. Thanks.
You may laugh, but had Trump not beaten their hag, he would not have been gone after by them.

I'm not talking about the rioters. Not at all
We should be. Those are the people being prosecuted/persecuted.
-Trump = the election was stolen
So what? For at least four years we were bombarded with false claims that Trump stole the election in '16.

That bs was 100% false, yet not one person is being threatened with jail over it. Ie: if it's ok to say Trump cheated, it's ok to say Joe cheated too.

The dems did everything they could in order to stop him from becoming potus, and then did more to illegally remove him once he was in. They challenged his Electors in '16, but when Trump did the exact same thing in '20 the moronic dems cried foul. Ie: they are nothing but a bunch of worthless hypocrites.

You may laugh, but had Trump not beaten their hag, he would not have been gone after by them.

The "hag" freely admitted she lost, congratulated Trump and moved on with her life.

Had Trump dome the same in 2020 we wouldn't be discussing this. lol

We should be. Those are the people being prosecuted/persecuted.

My god.............they are being charged for what they actually did.

But the maniacs that egged them on have skated so far. WTF?????? I'm starting to wonder if they'll simply slipe slid away.

What are Garland and Smith doing?

So what? For at least four years we were bombarded with false claims that Trump stole the election in '16.

Cmon. No one thinks Trump stole 2016. He won. Even I believe that.

they are nothing but a bunch of worthless hypocrites.

The "hag" freely admitted she lost, congratulated Trump and moved on with her life.
Yet still wrote a book about how she was cheated.

My god.............they are being charged for what they actually did.
We've already seen that that ain't true as far as Chansley goes.

But the maniacs that egged them on have skated so far. WTF?????? I'm starting to wonder if they'll simply slipe slid away.

What are Garland and Smith doing?
Who do you think is letting them slip slide away?
....and look at the vid in post #275. WTF are they handing out weapons for?

Cmon. No one thinks Trump stole 2016. He won. Even I believe that.
Yet you don't remember being gas lit about how Trump colluded with Putin in order to hack the election? We had a $35 million three year investigation over it. You seem to have a short memory when it comes to that.

Don't trust cops, prosecutors or judges. Our system of justice has been broken for a long time.
Joe King:

So why trust the ones prosecuting and judging the Jan 6th defendants? They're Americans with the same Rights as you. If they can have evidence withheld and held for extended period without trial, so can you. Are you ok with that happening to you? If not, extend that same attitude to them, too.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Both of you are spot on. Both of you stopped short to where you would probably agree.

It is no secret that many judges have been co-opted (just look at Arizona/Pennsylvania/Wisconsin judicial "rulings") . It is easy enough to do in our disintegrating society: They just walk up to a judge and point out that even a Supreme Court judge can be put down and buried with no fuss at all. And give them their marching orders.

So how to fix it? Litmus test of past rulings. We need reality at this point. The judges that freed the murderers. The prosecutors that either didn't prosecute, or prosecuted the victims. Reality says, this is, unfortunately but inevitably, a time of reset.

Trust prosecutors with records of doing their jobs. Simply choose them exclusively. Who could argue?

Trust judges with with records of doing their jobs. Ditto.

Arrest the prosecutors with records of politics guiding how they did their jobs. Judges also.
