the holes in the Swiss cheese model appears to have lined up!

I'm getting the impression that ships on the sea are set on "auto pilot" more often than not!

The master arrested - according to gCaptain.

I'm glad our FRIENDS in the City-of-London, are on top of this. They have zero interest in stopping rape gangs in the UK, but since they're Russia-Russia-Russia, war-hungry, they IMMEDIATELY seize this captain.

Because he's of the same nationality as the government the Labourites want to use for a distraction-war and financial controlled-demolition.

The Navy had me in Japan for two weeks, too...and that was just after a couple of US Navy enlisted, were arrested for soliciting and molesting a couple of Japanese girls. Would it have been fair for all the Navy to be smeared by this act? Of course not.

The Solong collision plainly appears to be negligent operation, leaving the ship on autopilot in a busy area used as a staging point. That's not criminal. Being Russian is not criminal, unless you're a demented cheerleader for the End-Of-History war.

I'd read that, many places, before the eww toobs came to be.

Writers have approached that - fiction and travel journals. Used to be, you could travel on a freight vessel, after a lot of red tape. Pay a fare, they'd put you up in guest quarters or an empty stateroom...only caveat was, you were forbidden to do anything with or for the crew. Union rules. That, and age...under 70 and proven healthy.

I always wanted to try it, after four years at sea the hard way. Join the Navy, see the world - from a porthole!

Anyway. Aside from that I don't much care for Asian food as a steady diet (occasionally, is fine) it looks good. He's right, though - that is CRITICAL to keeping up morale. The easiest, cheapest way to have a contented crew, is with good foodservice.

And men have mutinied for lousy food - a bad or malicious cook, or parsimonious captain.

Out of the Navv, I wanted to try my hands on the Great Lakes ore boats. But I wasn't a deck sailor, but a clerk - a supercargo would be the civilian equivalent (Supervisor of Cargo).

It didn't happen. I had fantasies of six-figure incomes for nine months of work each year, and spending winters in the Florida sun.

Was snipe (mm) in the canoe club. Had some help (chief & division officer) getting a MMD (Merchant Mariner Document) right after I got out and went MSC (Military Sealift Command) as QMED (Qualified Member Engineering Dept. for a while. Was actually a wiper - no biggie. Enjoyed it and kick myself in the ass for not staying with it.

Some of the vids I post are by peeps living it. A couple have rental properties, some just a home and some living where-ever when they aren't sailing.

Crossing a Brutal North Atlantic. And I love it! - Chapter 11

Mar 28, 2025

We are finally back in the windy parts of the North Atlantic, and it did not dissapoint! We set off from Torshavn, Faroe Islands, and adjust the course to Cullivoe on Shetland. 187 NM of pretty brutal conditions. But oh, what fun it is!
Its just to hang on!
