On a visit to Kherson, I see why the Ukrainians will win — with our support

By
Douglas Murray
November 18, 2022

Russia is going to lose this war. And Ukraine is going to win it. How can I say that with confidence? Because yesterday I was in the city of Kherson and saw Russia’s defeat with my own eyes.

Kherson is part of the south of Ukraine that was invaded and occupied in March this year. In September it was one of the four regions which the Kremlin gave a “vote” to in order to pretend that the regions really wanted to be part of Russia, not Ukraine. These “plebiscites” were meant to validate the occupier. But the whole thing was a sham, with results not seen since Saddam Hussein held “elections” in which he regularly received over 100% of the vote.

The Kremlin thought it was playing a clever game in “making official” its gobbling up these vast regions. But all the time Ukraine — backed by military provisions sent from the West — fought a far cleverer and braver war.

In recent days the consequences have been paying off. Last week the Ukrainians managed to take back the city of Kherson and much of the surrounding region. And they did it with barely a fight. So swift was the Ukrainian advance that many Russian soldiers didn’t even get the memo that they were meant to have fled the city.

One Russian soldier went into the local shop in the morning to get vodka and turned around to see two Ukrainian soldiers behind him. He is now among the prisoners of war that both sides are collecting in preparation for any final peace deal.

Yet although the Ukrainians took back the city, as I saw myself the locals have paid a terrible price. As you drive the towards Kherson you pass village after village that has been decimated by the Russians. Simple rural houses all have their roofs and walls blown off from shelling or from being burned in the resulting fires. They are ghost villages, with nothing moving and no one left.

No. Ukraine is not threatening Poland (or other NATO members). I know your question was tongue in cheek (at least I hope so), but Russia bears ultimate responsibility if Ukraine is attempting to defend itself from a Russian attack.
NATO has used Ukraine to poke the Bear since 2014. And So it is the Russians fault Ukraine sends missiles into a country in the opposite direction of Russia ? :ROFLMAO:
Does this remind you for old black and white Keystone Cops movies ? It does me. :cautious:

That was a nice video, thanks for posting. I enjoyed the walk & talk and am amazed at the strength of the people.

I also saw her in John Mark Dougan's video. Her eyes were opened.

God bless the average people on both sides of this war. May peace come soon.

Mr. Medvedev:

The clumsy attempts to shift responsibility for the bombardment of Poland to our country have not been accepted by anyone, not even by the most inveterate Russophobes, the Poles. And this is an important symptom:

1. Everyone is very tired of the Kiev regime. Especially the neurotic Zelensky, who is constantly inflaming passions, whining, cackling and begging for more and more handouts in money and arms. He acts like a hysterical child with developmental problems.

2. The United States, NATO and the European Union do not want an eventual break with Russia that could endanger World War III. Hence, there are more and more attempts to tame and talk sense into Kiev and push it to the negotiations.

3. Zelensky doesn't need negotiations for quite obvious petty reasons. Moreover, they are very dangerous for him, as we have already talked about. Because if he doesn't recognize the reality of Ukraine's collapse, it makes no sense to sit down at the table. And if he does — he will be killed by his own nationalists, who are in league with the army top brass. And of whom he is scared to death. Zugzwang.

❗️18+ Terrifying video of Ukrainian terrorists shooting captured Russian soldiers emerges

Footage has emerged of Ukrainian nationalists brutally massacring captured Russian soldiers. In the video, the militants first surround a house, force all the Russian soldiers out of it, put them all on the ground, and then shoot them. The fighters did not even hide their faces.

At the moment of the brutal execution, all the soldiers were lying unarmed with hands behind their heads. At the end, the militants show, presumably, the dead body of one of the brutally murdered, and cynically ask how he's doing. Presumably, all the executed were fighters of the Central Military District or the People's Militia of the Donetsk and the Luhansk People's Republics.

At the same time, video from a quadcopter showing the bodies had appeared earlier. At that time, Ukrainian propaganda tried to pass it off as an "artillery strike," but now it is obvious that the fighters whose bodies are depicted in the footage were brutally shot at point-blank range by the nationalists.

Ukraine Shipping Hub Cheers as Kherson Win Foils Russian Black Sea Hopes

By Tom Balmforth November 16, 2022

In Mykolaiv's blast-cratered district of Korabel, close to Ukraine's southern front, Pavel Salohub, a teacher of history and boxing, has not heard a single explosion in four days - the first such respite from war since Russia invaded.

Friday's recapture of the city of Kherson has shunted the frontline dozens of kilometres to the east, and with it Russian artillery, spurring hopes that almost nine months of regular shelling and strikes are ending, the 28-year-old said.

"Emotionally everyone is happier, you can feel it. It's the first thing everyone talks about. It's really lifted morale. In the south we'd seen very few successes, some felt a bit like we'd been forgotten," he added.

AP fires reporter responsible for fake story alleging Russian missiles hit Poland

The retracted story alleged that a senior US intelligence official said that Russian missiles "crossed into NATO member Poland, killing two people."

The Associated Press has reportedly fired journalist Jim LaPorta, who was one of two bylines that ran with the false report that Russian missiles hit Poland. The only source of that story was anonymous, which goes against AP's policy.

The retracted story alleged that a senior US intelligence official said that Russian missiles "crossed into NATO member Poland, killing two people."

The story was taken down the next day and replaced with an editor's note stating that the story was false and that "subsequent reporting showed that the missiles were Russian-made and most likely fired by Ukraine in defense against a Russian attack."

AP's news values and principles state that there must be more than one anonymous source to run a story unless the "material comes from an authoritative figure who provides information so detailed that there is no question of its accuracy," the AP said.

Eva Bartlett: Time to bury the myth of the "mass graves" of Mangush, Stary Krym and Vinogradnoye

Eva Bartlett: Time to bury the myth of the mass graves of Mangush, Stary Krym and Vinogradnoye
Federal News Agency
Eva Bartlett , an independent journalist from Canada , debunked the myths spread in the Western media about "mass graves" in the settlements of Mangush, Vinogradnoye and Stary Krym. In her column for the FAN , she cited facts from her trip to these villages, which directly indicate the falsity of Western media statements about "mass graves" of civilians. By the way, during her trips, in order not to be unfounded, Barlet visited local cemeteries and talked with the residents of these settlements about the events that took place there in the spring and summer of 2022.

They thought that society would never know the truth, and that journalists would be too lazy to expose lies. Column by Eva Barlett

In recent days, the Western media has resurrected the story of the "mass graves" near Mariupol, and since - unlike any of the people behind these claims - I'm actually in the Donetsk People's Republic, I went to the websites to debunk the false propaganda. As I did in April, when the Western media announced that there was a mass grave in the village of Mangush.

Then, the former mayor of Mariupol, Vadim Boychenko , was mentioned as a source of information in Western media reports . By the way, neither in April, nor now Boychenko was and is not even on the outskirts of the city. But that didn't stop him from making claims that 9,000 bodies were thrown into pits 30 meters wide.

When I went to Mangush, which is located west of Mariupol, I actually found a cemetery that was expanding. Of the more than 300 new graves in the cemetery, almost 100 were still empty. The two gravediggers on site were outraged by the claims and insisted that they buried the bodies separately, including several Ukrainian soldiers.

This fact is reflected in my video about the hoax of the Mangush "mass grave".

This again? No one has shown any evidence that money flowed from Ukraine to FTX. Until there is a shred of evidence for this, repeating this claim is just propaganda. Some people are just so desperate to push an agenda that they will repeatedly promote bullshit.

The European Parliament has declared Russia a “state sponsor of terrorism”, saying Moscow’s “deliberate attacks and atrocities” in Ukraine violate human rights and international humanitarian laws.

European lawmakers passed the resolution on Wednesday with 494 members voting in favour, 58 against and 44 abstaining.
...
However, the move is largely symbolic as the European Union has no legal framework to back it up.
