More Than 50 People Were Shot Memorial Day Weekend In Chicago, Is That Normal?

A South Philly neighborhood was awash in retaliatory gunfire. A recent trial showed the human cost.

To hear Nyseem Smith tell it, shooting people was something of a pastime for him and his friends in South Philadelphia.

Week after week, sometimes day after day, Smith said, he and his crew from 31st Street would fall into a familiar routine: They’d steal a car, hop in with guns they all shared, then go looking for rivals to shoot.

Sometimes, he said, they’d seek out young men associated with 27th Street, another neighborhood group. Other times, they’d look for people who lived around the nearby Wilson Park apartments.

Locked-up shelves at San Francisco stores have become a common sight due to what companies say is rampant shoplifting.

But customers and staff say the anti-theft measures are irritating, increasing the workload for staffers and wait times for shoppers. The locked shelves are often accompanied by a buzzer that customers push to summon an employee with a key, an interaction that’s becoming increasingly frayed on both sides of the aisle.

It gets bad enough, they will simply close the stores entirely. Happens all the time in democrat utopias. Look at Walmart pulling all its stores out of Portland for an example. https://news.yahoo.com/walmart-set-close-stores-portland-154823875.html Then the ghetto dwellers complain that they have nowhere close to where they live to steal. Guess they just haven't figured out that whole cause and correlation thing yet. Life's hard. It's even harder when you are stupid.

I grew up in the bay in the Bay area in the 80's and you use to be able to travel into the city as a young kid and skateboard and have fun. Today it would be unthinkable to let a kid skateboard in the city alone.

That is going to happen more often.

Stupid people continue to vote for democrats. I have no idea why they cannot see past the empty promises and actually look at what dem "leadership" does to a place. You show me a festering shithole in this country, and I'll show you a city that has been controlled by democrats for the past 50 years.

That is going to happen more often.
Hopefully so. How else are the ne'er do wells ever gonna learn why to not do the shit they do, unless more of them get that kinda treatment?

That guy with the stick deserves a f'ing medal, imho.
.....and give him a parade too. A big one. With the ticker tapes and all.

Stupid people continue to vote for democrats. I have no idea why they cannot see past the empty promises and actually look at what dem "leadership" does to a place.
Or what if the dems have just been able to cheat in most of those places for years, and that people voting the other way have come to believe and accept that they are just in the minority?

You show me a festering shithole in this country, and I'll show you a city that has been controlled by democrats for the past 50 years.
That ain't no lie. These days a person would have to be willfully ignorant in order to be a democrat.
Edited to add: ...usta be one just had to be plain ignorant to be one. Now ya gotta actively be ignorant to be one. Lol

To be fair, today's democrat party is a far cry from our parent's democrat party. I guess some people just keep voting dem out of habit because that's all they've ever done. And let's face it - half of them are too stupid to see just how corrupt the dems have become. The morons sitting there day in and day out getting their news from CNN or the hags on The View have a very warped and narrow view of this country. Then you have the yoon-yun stooges, which is an entirely different matter.

Gee............that's a bit harsh.

I don't know. I play golf with a liberal democrat. Absolutely hands down the dumbest guy in our group. He's voted democrat all his life. He hears us discussing current events and he gets extremely upset. He absolutely hates what Pedo Joe and the crackhead have done to this country. He hates the way they've weaponized the FBI and the DOJ. He said to me a couple of weeks ago, "I just don't know how I can vote for another democrat!" And he was quite upset when he said it. He's never voted for a Republican in his life, but he sees quite clearly what the democrats are doing to this country.

Gee............that's a bit harsh.
Seems like truth to me. These places that have been under dem/lib/leftist control for years are in fact falling to pieces. To keep voting for the type of people that support the policies that have led to the decay we see would either require an electorate who likes such results, or who willfully ignore such results.

Either way, they get more of it.

The reason I say that they must be willfully ignorant, is because even I don't think that most democrats in those places actually wanted the results they've gotten.
Their choice is either willfully ignore the results and press on, or admit they were wrong.
....and if they admit to being wrong, who does that leave to have been right? Ie: the ones they see as their political enemies, and they just can't bring themselves to accepting that. So willful ignorance it'll be.

In the past, I've always been able to get along with democrats. Simply chalking it up to a difference of opinions. What's changed that for me now is them openly and brazenly going after the children. That's a hard stop for me. That is a line nobody should cross. And before somebody says, "Not all democrats are for grooming children", let me be clear. You vote for the party that is openly grooming children and putting porn in their libraries in school, you are at the very least tacitly approving of their tactics. When I realized what they were doing to very young children - the drag queen story hours, the puberty blockers in schools, instructing the kids to not tell their parents, pushing the gay agenda on them - that is when I realized that I could no longer treat them as human beings. As far as I am concerned, those people are vile. Innocent children need to be kept far away from evil like that.

This is what is going on in public schools now.

I've seen that video before. I laughed out loud yet again watching it. That piece of shit thug should be very thankful that it weren't me on the end of his chain. I wouldn't have stopped until his knees were busted.

Crowd in the thousands overwhelms New York City's Union Square, tosses chairs, climbs on vehicles

NEW YORK (AP) — Thousands of people filled Manhattan's Union Square Friday afternoon for an internet personality's hyped giveaway that got out of hand, with some in the crowd clambering on vehicles, hurling chairs and throwing punches, leaving police struggling to rein in the chaos.

Aerial TV news footage showed a surging, tightly packed crowd running through the streets, scaling structures in the park and snarling traffic. Shouting teenagers swung objects at car windows, and some people climbed on top of a moving vehicle, falling off as it sped away. Others pounded on or climbed atop city buses.

By 5:30 p.m., police officers in growing numbers had regained control of much of the area, but small skirmishes were still breaking out, with young people knocking over barricades and tossing bottles and even a flower pot at officers. Police were seen wrestling people to the ground and chasing them down the street.

Neighbor nightmares: In gentrifying Philly, culture clash gets ugly

It started with a chimney.

The structure, shared between Kenneth Kramer's graceful brick rental property on Hamilton Street in Powelton Village and Carlos Colding's familial home, needed repairs. Kramer hired a mason, and Colding kicked in $200. Then, a conversation with the contractor this winter led Colding to believe he'd been swindled into covering the entire tab.

After that, Kramer claimed in court, there were a series of counterstrikes to his properties: rows of threatening Post-it notes, starting with the poetically ominous "Upset? Not yet?" and escalating to sexually explicit comments and death threats; feces piled on a doorknob and caked into the lock; scattered bloody tampons; liberal spritzes of "fermented urine," distinctive, according to Kramer, in that "it smells way worse than regular urine"; and culminating in a pickax to the roof and to the now-infamous chimney.

Kramer fought back in his own way: a $50,000 civil suit claiming property damage, lost revenue and defamation, and calls to the police, resulting in criminal charges against Colding that could be prosecuted as felonies.

Colding, 67, denies doing anything wrong. But he says he did post 50 or so angry notes on his own property. "I wanted to let the neighborhood know how I felt and what was being done to me," he said in an interview. "That was my way of expressing myself. … I have free speech."

Gee............that's a bit harsh.
So is a bath if you are filthy. So don't get so filthy that your bath is a "harsh" -- but necessary -- thing to endure.

Frankly, if it was my store... AFTER he got beaten sufficiently to accept me as his temporary vengeful GOD, I would order him to get every single bit of mess he made replaced onto the shelves.

After a detailed inspection, with ten ass-whacks for every single thing not put back properly, he would have his second chance to make it GI-inspection perfect.

Then he would be allowed to leave and pass the Word.

Can I get an "A-men!"

@searcher , you say I'm being harsh in my earlier assessment, so if I am, how do you explain the problems those places are having?

Just a quick scroll of this page shows me the following:

More Than 50 People Were Shot Memorial Day Weekend In Chicago, Is That Normal?
Yes, it is now that libs/dems/leftists have been running (ruining?) the place for how many Decades now?
Edited to add: Things have only gotten steadily worse under their leadership, yet the people still vote for them.
Either they like the results, or they choose to be willfully ignorant of them. What else might it be?

Locked-up shelves at San Francisco stores have become a common sight due to what companies say is rampant shoplifting.
Why does San Fran have such high crime? Could it be the lack of any desire to prosecute criminals for their crimes?
Who made the decisions to quit doing that?
Who willingly voted for the people making those kind of decisions?
Is San Fran's problems the result of conservative politicians decisions, or those of the libs/dems/leftist politicians who have been running the city for how many Decades now?

Neighbors of a drug-riddled Seattle homeless encampment are outraged after a swimming pool was installed for the vagrants living there.
They only installed it because the people voted for politicians who allowed them to do so.
so wouldn't you agree that they'd have to be either pretty dumb or willfully ignorant to keep voting for those same politicians who allowed the very things they are complaining about?
It just doesn't strike me as the kind of thing that a rational person who is seeking to improve the situation, would do.
....although people who are ignoring reality might. Hence the willful ignorance comment. How else would you explain it?

San Francisco Voted For This Chaos. Walgreens Gets Robbed 12 Times In A Day.
Does that sound like the kind of thing that should happen in a well run city?
Why do we only hear of stuff like that happening in libs/dems/leftist run cities? Are there any conservative run cities where it's considered to be normal for the local Walgreens to get robbed 12 times a day?

Can you give even one example to even begin countering the bs we see and have seen for many years in Chicago Detroit San Fran Seattle Portland Baltimore Philly St Louis DC and many more? What's one thing they all have in common? Decades of libs/dems/leftists running the place.
How do you explain it, if not for it being the result of the policies those people have consistently voted for?
....and do you think they are smart well informed voters, or ones who are ignoring the results their voting has already gotten them?

That's the first half. Here is the whole vid. Dude wacked him almost 40 times. They were nice enough to let him go before the cops got there, but the guy had the audacity to ask for a free soda on his way out.

That guy walked in there with a big trash can thinking that he was gonna fill it up and that no one, not even the police was gonna do anything about it.

He only thought to do that because of the lax attitude demonstrated for many years by police and city officials towards such behavior.

Can you give even one example to even begin countering the bs we see and have seen for many years in Chicago Detroit San Fran Seattle Portland Baltimore Philly St Louis DC

STOP!! STOP!! You have beaten his logic into the mud from which it oozed!! Take pity on a totally destroyed person's feelings...

Offer him a beautiful example of a lib/dem/leftist-run city with lowest crime and the finest infrastructure that you skipped in your pitiless honesty:

New Orleans. Now there is a golden city on a hill... For the crime rate there is low... oh, my... Wait, what do I see? The hill has sunk down to below sea level!

Crime rate is up 141% this year. <--DYODD It has the highest crime rate of any city in America -- shaming sleepy Chicago, even.

Guess the politics of Nawlins. Small-town conservative? Nope. Until one accepts that the future of any group that goes lib/dem/leftist = communist/socialist will ultimately be one of loss of dignity, civilized behavior, and courage.

Gee............that's a bit harsh.

@searcher , you say I'm being harsh in my earlier assessment, so if I am, how do you explain the problems those places are having?

I was screwing around.

That said..........there are places in Philly I no longer go to. They were all cool places with bars, clubs and a gym where you could have a good time. Some are now closed, or the neighborhoods are way too dangerous to be walking around in. Don't really think it's simply because of the dems. It's not a lack of police or anything like that. It's more to do with a breakdown in society along all lines........in my opinion.

Start with home life, then there is our educational system. Then there is the fact that we kinda live in a dog-eat-dog society where the gov basically has abdicated its role of helping / taking care of its citizens in favor of a you scratch my back I'll scratch your back way of doing things.

I don't know what the answer is, but we need to take a real hard look at how we do things when dealing with people and society in general and improve things. Unfortunately, I don't think that'll happen.

I was screwing around.
As are most dems.

That said..........there are places in Philly I no longer go to. They were all cool places with bars, clubs and a gym where you could have a good time.
So you do see that it's gone downhill?

Who has been in charge during that time?

Some are now closed, or the neighborhoods are way too dangerous to be walking around in. Don't really think it's simply because of the dems.
When your dem leaders saw it getting more dangerous, what was thir response?

Bigger police presence in those areas in order to deter crime, and full prosecution under the law in order to send the message that that type of behavior would not be tolerated?
....or did your leaders do things like stop arresting people for certain offenses, and lowering bail to make it easier for those they do arrest to get out of jail?

It's not a lack of police or anything like that. It's more to do with a breakdown in society along all lines........in my opinion.
So there is plenty of cops in Philly? They have short response times whenever they are called?

If not, despite how it may appear, they lack the number of cops they need,. If the criminals know that it takes 30 minutes for the cops to get there, they know they got 29 minutes rape rob and pillage.

The only job the gov has is to protect citizens Rights from being violated by criminals.

The gov isn't our mom and dad.

I don't know what the answer is,
Of course not. If you did, you couldn't be able to vote for those who allowed the mess to happen in the first place.

but we need to take a real hard look at how we do things when dealing with people and society in general and improve things.
What would improve things the most is to create an environment that DOESN'T encourage more criminal acts against people and their property.

Having policies that are lax on crime only serve to encourage more of it.

How could it not? What you encourage, you get more of. You can't see that?

It is completely due to democrat policies when it comes to crime and punishment. George Soros is spending a lot of money to make sure these cities have DA's who march to his orders. Those are democrat DA's. The democrat mayors are giving the orders to the police to stand down. The democrat DAs are refusing to charge these criminals with the crimes they committed. They are usually back on the street the same day. That is absolutely a democrat-made problem. Criminals no longer fear the justice system because the justice system has been taken over by criminals themselves. Frankly, I feel badly for any decent police officers who remain, and I feel badly for any remaining conservatives who have to live in that shithole, but this issue exists solely due to liberal feel-good policies.

searcher -- THINK a minnit: The gubmint hasn't abdicated its role of helping/taking care of citizens... except where the gubmint is lib/dem/idiots. <-- Those people have JOINED the crowd that steals and burns. Just look dammit LOOK at what thing(s) run Chicago.

I can walk down the street anywhere around where I live. Safely. Let me make sure you understand WHY it is not safe where commie/dem/libs have taken over:

*IF* you steal something from a store around here, you will be stopped by the store owners. And other customers. And you will be held until the police arrive. And you will be arrested.

You will NOT be granted immunity from the store owners. Nor from the American citizens around you. Nor from the police. And lastly, you will NOT be given the goods you stole along with your commie/dem/lib "Get Out Of Jail Free" card by the local (conservative) gummint.

Another thing: Chicago/DC/NYC/Any commie/dem/lib city has lotsa shootings (every fargin night) because there are no guns in those cities. <-- That, Pilgrim, is lib/dem doublethink.

The guns are all held by the gangs. They shoot every night. EVERY night (and day). There are noshit no-go areas for "civilians".

Try that in this area. Most -- not some -- but most, and all those I know both male and female are armed. Legally. There are no carjackings around here... it is bad odds. There are no flash mobs of vibrants robbing Wal-Mart. <-- They would not make it out of the store.

What is Number One on every commie/dem/lib schedule? Ban guns. Prove me wrong.

CiscoKid has it dead on:

"The democrat DAs are refusing to charge these criminals with the crimes they committed. They are usually back on the street the same day. That is absolutely a democrat-made problem."

Sounds like where I live. Oh yeah, and half the people in the stores where I live are armed, as am I. It's a very peaceful, quiet town. Heck, where I live, Grandma's packing heat. And I'm not even joking.

And if a flash mob of "yutes" ever started to riot on Main Street, jumping on cars and breaking windows, there would be about twenty of the biggest farm boys you ever saw wearing deputy uniforms beating heads and grinning while they did it. They simply aren't going to take that crap.

Sounds like where I live. Oh yeah, and half the people in the stores where I live are armed, as am I. It's a very peaceful, quiet town. Heck, where I live, Grandma's packing heat. And I'm not even joking.
Like we useta say, bro: There It is.

My Beautiful Witch (umm... she's a grandma, now that I thinks onnit) has a car gun (too heavy to carry, will stop trucks) and a carry gun: 2-shot Derringer.

I gave my little granddaughter a pink Crickett .22 rifle for her tenth birthday.

When it's hot, I just slip this (Model 638) in my right front pants pocket. I never leave my property without it. When it gets colder and I need a jacket, I carry an H&K USP chambered in .40 S&W.

Edited to add: She Who Must Be Obeyed carries a Sig 9mm. She's comfortable with it.
