I find it interesting that in all 3 articles Searcher posted, authoritarianism is explicitly associated only with conservative or right leaning governments and movements. It's like the authors, being left wing authoritarians themselves are either completely blind to their own strangling of liberty, or perhaps complicit in it.

Zelenski is sitting back right about now knowing his war is coming to an end. Probably on the phone with our dementia patient asking why he didn't get a carrier strike group?

100 billion plus annually for our 16 spy agencies and they never seem to see anything coming.

Of course, and some of my suspicion and others Rafi seems to confirm. The Israeli government Stood Down for 7 hours and did very little. I was also asking what happened to their missile defense system. They clearly had some other motives. It's really just the beginning where he gives a local account update and to say that he's safe for now.

Massive Attack on Israel - Malcolm Nance Analyzes

*Correction: I misstated the numbers of Israeli soldiers killed in Lebanon during the Hezbollah war. It’s around 637 IDF soldiers killed in action, not 2,000. My number was the total allied casualties including the militia soldiers in the Israel backed Army of Southern Lebanon.

I'm all for this. Biden and Netty can both lead the way. Kamala too. Funny how the leaders of countries always say they have to do something when what they really mean is they have to send other people to their deaths for them.

I would soften them up with every available bunker buster and MOAB available. Take out the tunnels, then napalm everything else. Turn it into Schweinfurt circa 1944.

Disagree. The real threats are running both sides. It was obvious since all of their defenses basically stood down to allow it to happen.

All this unrest could be easily taken care of if they would just take NyQuil before going to bed...

Israel Shows Why Americans Have Right To "Weapons of War" For Self-Defense

BY TYLER DURDEN
MONDAY, OCT 09, 2023 - 09:30 PM

Submitted by Gun Owners of America,

As videos emerge from Israel about the recent invasion by Hamas, it should become clear that the Second Amendment here in the US is "Necessary to the security of a free state."

While gun control continues to be pushed by the Biden administration, Israel, a state lauded by gun control advocates for its strict regulations, has axed some of its gun control measures in an attempt to fight the recent terrorist invasion.

WOTR Podcast. Nothing to see.

Ryan sat down with Bruce Hoffman, the Shelby Cullom and Kathryn W. Davis senior fellow for counterterrorism and homeland security at the Council on Foreign Relations, to discuss Hamas’ terror attack over the weekend. The conversation touched on the intelligence failure before the attack, Hamas’ history of terror attacks in the region, the role of Iran, and the likelihood of a ground invasion of the Gaza Strip. This conversation was recorded on Monday, Oct. 9, 2023.

Graham: We should put Iran 'out of business' if conflict escalates | The Hill

Full scale war with Iran appears to be on the table.

For the conspiracy minded:

For years, the various governments led by Benjamin Netanyahu took an approach that divided power between the Gaza Strip and the West Bank — bringing Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas to his knees while making moves that propped up the Hamas terror group.

The idea was to prevent Abbas — or anyone else in the Palestinian Authority’s West Bank government — from advancing toward the establishment of a Palestinian state.

Thus, amid this bid to impair Abbas, Hamas was upgraded from a mere terror group to an organization with which Israel held indirect negotiations via Egypt, and one that was allowed to receive infusions of cash from abroad.

Carrier battle group & air force resources getting into place, along with Graham saying it should be both Israel and the US bombing Iran's oil fields sure seems like something wicked coming Iran's way.

I have no idea how influential this guy is or how widespread his thinking is shared, but the unrest that was the original genesis of this thread likely indicates that there may be political support for it.

"swift, decisive and overwhelming"

These are Biden's words. He's on tv and he used them when talking about out response should the US get involved.

Israel should fight its own wars. The wildcard is Saudi Arabia.

You sure he wasn't talking about his dirty diaper?

"Palestinian" is a propoganda name to dress up Egyptian squatters.

(BTW... Islam is a cancer on our planet.)

So tired of all this Israel & Palestine warring going on...

There has to be something else on the TV...

Iran has some serious firepower. Attacking them would be a major miscue. With this group in charge who knows what insanity they have planned.

Iran may or may not possess nuclear weapons. If they do, US intelligence has not leaked knowledge of it.

Israel is believed to possess a moderate sized arsenal of nuclear weapons (never officially acknowledged).

The USA, of course has a huge arsenal of nukes though likely not the political will to use them. But Neocons like Sen. Graham are already chomping at the bit to declare war on Iran.

It looks like Russia might be testing the NATO waters with the Finland pipeline sabotage.

China has it's eye on Taiwan.

Interesting times. :(

LIVE - Gaza Airstrikes LIVE | Israel Struggles To Stamp Out Hamas, Both Sides Take Hostages | Palestine War

Live overlooking the Gaza City skyline after the ruling Hamas militant group in the Gaza Strip carried out an unprecedented attack on Israel at daybreak Saturday, firing thousands of rockets as dozens of fighters infiltrated the heavily fortified border in several locations by air, land and sea, catching the country off guard on a major holiday. The death toll in the ongoing Israel-Hamas war has reached 1100, which includes 700 in Israel and 400 in Gaza, apart from thousands wounded on both sides. Israel's President Isaac Herzog vowed victory on Oct. 8, a day after Hamas fighters rampaged through Israeli towns. Watch this live to know more

It will start as 3 days to slow the spread of Hamas, but trail into months of spiritual warfare. Coming to US next, prepare accordingly.

An American mom, 67, spent her life advocating for Palestinian rights. Now she's a Hamas hostage.

SHEFAYIM KIBBUTZ, Israel − They exchanged text messages and emojis. Brief status updates with words of encouragement. A picture of the beloved family dog, Tutsi.

Until no more messages came.

And then, Cindy Flash, an American, and her Israeli husband, Igal, vanished into the violence, presumed kidnapped by Hamas.

Four days after Hamas attacked Israel, more than 100 Israelis and possibly dozens of foreign nationals are thought to be held captive in the Gaza Strip. At least 14 U.S. citizens have been killed and an unknown number are still unaccounted for.

Flash, 67, originally from St. Paul, Minnesota, is one of them. She lives in Kfar Aza, a kibbutz in southern Israel near Gaza, where some of the most harrowing and grisly stories have been emerging over the past few days.
