State Farm canceled California homeowners’ insurance policies months before wildfires

State Farm canceled hundreds of homeowners’ insurance policies for residents in many of the same areas now in the path of the Southern California wildfires.

The insurance company’s reasoning for canceling policies for people living in Pacific Palisades in Los Angeles County, California, was due to elevated concerns associated with an increase in the frequency and magnitude of wildfires in the state, according to Newsweek.

The decision was announced in March, claiming it would cancel 72,000 property policies in California, 30,000 of which were home insurance policies, the Los Angeles Times reported. The cancellations went into effect over the summer. Around 1,600 homes in Pacific Palisades were victims of State Farm’s policy cancellations.

I wonder who paid for her trip to Ghana (herself or the taxpayers) and why the mayor of an American city would go to visit a foreign country? It's one thing if it was some sort of a vaca and she paid for it herself. Totally another thing if it was an official visit and the taxpayers footed the bill.

Nobody seems to be interested in the Palisades fires. It's an inferno. LA's tax base is going to take a HUGE hit now.

Dresden in Los Angeles and our Confederacy of Dunces

LA is burning. And the derelict people responsible are worried that they are found out as charlatans and empty suits.

The leftwing voters who enabled them are getting angry over the inferno that their chosen politicos green-lighted—as if they are shocked, shocked by the consequences of their voting.

The dam buster Nero Newsom made his accustomed fiddling appearance and then split—when the media began pointing out that he prohibits new reservoirs, sends precious water out to sea, blows up dams, prevents precautionary gleaning of forests and chaparrals, and then usually blames “Climate change” or “Trump” when called to account.

Poor Karen Bass was DEI-ing in Uganda after being previously warned that lack of rain, record winds, and kindling-like hillsides put her city in existential danger: Out of sight, out of mind.

Or did she junket across the world to consult about fire prevention with Ghana’s new president?

Was slashing nearly $18 million from the $50 billion city budget, after bragging about creating “451 new positions” in various woke/DEI fields, a way to prevent 25-square miles of Dresden-like desolation?

The embattled Fire Chief Kristen Crowley for two years has bragged not of response time, not of preventive strategies to stop fires, not of slashed budgets and water shortages, but instead about her DEI credentials as the “first” (fill in the blanks) LGBTQ etc. woman, who has hired “70 percent” of her force as either nonwhite, or nonmale, or nonbinary, or non-old fashioned, tough-guy firefighters.

The LA utility head? Usually AWOL. The permanent director of LA infrastructure is usually quickly fired or resigns for incompetence, bribery, or malfeasance.

Joe Biden? He was there—but only to try to put thousands of acres of federal land off-limits to roadblock the evil incoming Trump administration.

Did Joe have ideas to save LA? Maybe, but as usual he talked instead about himself—in this case his new great-great grandson and the miraculous salvation of his grandkid’s house (not the 1100 structures that then were ashes). And then he left, dispirited that his last junket to Italy may have to be cancelled.

Kamala Harris, our vice president?

Remember her during the 2024 campaign and how she rushed to Florida to glom onto Gov. De Santis’s masterful performance in dealing with record flooding?

Nowhere was the LA resident to be seen, as she too plans next week a last minute multimillion-dollar freebie junket.

What is the attitude of these “public servants” in times of existential crisis?

Maybe it’s: “Ashes, ashes, all fall down”….

This seems like the Maui fire all over again, but as Nero learned, fire is great for clearing out the riffraff.

🚨NEW: VDH weighs in on the LA fires: “It's something like a DEI Green New Deal hydrogen bomb — the alarming symptoms of a society gone mad."

An incisive, two-minute breakdown of the political and ideological issues that led to this disaster:

“It was a total systems collapse from the idea of not spending money on irrigation, storage, water, fire prevention and forest management, a viable insurance industry, a DEI hierarchy, you put it all together and it's something like a DEI Green New Deal hydrogen bomb."

"Gavin Newsom was fiddling, he's almost Nero Newsom. And this has been something that is just unimaginable."

"The systems breakdown. And to finish, what we're seeing in California is a state with 40 million people. And yet the people who run it feel that it should return to a 19th century pastoral condition. They are de-civilizing the state and de-industrializing the state and de-farming the state. But they're not telling the 40 million people that their lifestyles will have to revert back to the 19th century, when you had no protection from fire."

"You didn't have enough water in California. You didn't have enough power. You didn't pump oil. So we are deliberately making these decisions not to develop energy, not to develop a timber industry, not to protect the insurance industry, not to protect houses and property. And we're doing it in almost a purely nihilistic fashion."

"And Karen Bass should resign. She came to the airport back from Africa. She had nothing to say. She was confronted at the airport. Why were you in Africa? Why did you cut the fire department? They cut the fire department by almost $18 million. They gave fire protective equipment to Ukraine's first responders. And she had nothing to say. She had nothing to say because she couldn't say anything."

"I don't want to be too pessimistic or bleak tonight, but this is one of the most alarming symptoms of a society gone mad."

"And if this continues, and if this were to spread to other states, we would become a third world country if we're not in parts already."

ARSONIST CAUGHT: "Climate Change" NOT TO BLAME FOR FIRES!

First off, Mr. Woods, let me express my deepest sympathy for the loss of your beautiful home.

The devastation you and countless others have faced is heartbreaking.

Now, let me express my anger at the policies that led to this tragedy.

For years, we've been told that "climate change" is the root cause of these fires. But the truth?

Mismanagement and reckless decisions are far bigger culprits.

Forest mismanagement:
Years of neglect and refusal to properly clear dead trees and brush created a tinderbox waiting to ignite.

DEI hiring policies:
Fire departments prioritized diversity quotas over hiring based on merit. Are we seriously surprised this impacted efficiency?

Firing firefighters:
Hundreds of experienced heroes lost their jobs for refusing mandates. This gutted the very teams we rely on in emergencies.

Defunding fire departments:
Stripping critical resources left departments ill-equipped to handle disasters of this scale.

Water shortages:
Policies that mismanaged water resources left firefighters without the tools they needed to combat the inferno.

Gas lines left on:
A basic failure to shut off utilities turned fires into explosions. Who is being held accountable for this?

Arson and looting:
Let's not forget the human factor. Multiple arsonists set fires for personal gain, contributing directly to the destruction. Where are the headlines about them?

This wasn't an inevitable "climate catastrophe." This was a disaster born from poor leadership, bad policies, and human greed.

The lives destroyed and families shattered deserve better answers than pointing fingers at the weather.

We need accountability for the real causes of this tragedy. Enough excuses.

Insurance stocks sell off sharply as potential losses tied to LA wildfires increase

Insurers exposed to the California homeowners' market sold off sharply Friday as the devastation caused by the Los Angeles wildfires spread.

Shares of Allstate dropped 6%, while Chubb and Travelers both declined more than 3%. These three stocks were among the biggest losers in the S&P 500 on Friday. AIG and Progressive dipped over 1%.

Allstate, Chubb and Travelers are the most exposed carriers to insured losses in the wildfires, according to JPMorgan. The Wall Street firm noted that Chubb could have a particularly high exposure due to its high-net-worth focus in the region.

As of Thursday, January 9, 2025 over 1,000 building have been destroyed throughout outlying areas of Los Angeles, the second largest city in the USA. These are not some ghetto areas or middle class bungalows, but include some of the most posh mansions of Hollywood elites, in the Hollywood Hills. Many celebrity residents are fleeing their mega mansions as smoke, high winds and fire turn the landscape into scenes from an end-of-the-world film.

Just one blaze destroyed 4,800+ hectares of land in Pacific Palisades, between Santa Monica and Malibu. We are talking about the places where some of the wealthiest people in Southern California live.

What you have to understand is that Karen Bass is a marxist, America-hating piece of shit. She was heavily involved in the Venceremos Brigade back in the '70s and traveled to Cuba at least 15 times with that group. She is a terrorist - plain and simple. This is the type of filth that democrats put in positions of power.
