No angle you said you can things with GIM you can't do here. Maybe I should have said the board looks exactly like GIM.

a (go to bottom of page) arrow for instance.

do you want a list? it would be short but pmbug should definitely check out gim before its to late. I'm sure he has, but has he grasped the full picture as a long time user might?

I will eventually start a What’s Cracking In The Garden thread this early spring.

we are harvesting the last of our tomatoes and peppers and medical herbs this week and then we will till under the garden and plant some winter wheat for a cover crop

oh yeah , we will also plant some garlic around the first frost

edit: should the Thread go in the Better Safe Than Sorry Forum?

Spinal,
Better to move it to the "don't share that photo unless you have enough for everybody" file... you do great work!

anyone have a good recommendation for ordering some good coffee online?

spinal,
I have been drinking this since my first trip to Costa rica (1999) and toured the factory several times, have a cup in hand as I type... it has gone way up in price, but we aren't switching... here is the blend we buy, but keep in mind its an extremely personal choice..

A year ago they ran a crazy special 40 bags were $306 delivered.. last us 13 months

Just bought 32 bags and it was $408

Note they sell ground and whole bean.. the whole bean is as fresh as new after 12 months the ground ages after around 8 months

this board is not exactly the same. close tho

PM Guy should take a look at GIM and see for himself inprovements he could make within software capabilities

This site is running the same forum software that GIM2 uses. Features should be the same although some things might be configured differently. I have avoided adding lots of 3rd party modifications to this site as each one increases the risk of things breaking when the forum software gets updated.

If there is something specific you would like to see here, let me know and I'll consider it.

We're lucky to have found this place thanks to whoever mentioned it. I don't mind the 6 month heads up.

It was BigJim who was the conduit to this place. I am grateful the polar bear gave us notice. We could have been in panic mode and missed this place entirely, especially without a database for contacts.

The new place is very nice. Gives us an opportunity to refine topics further. The admin is very responsive and all the buttons work in the forum.

spinal,
just saw this on britt's website... can't imagine using it but hey its there:

I've been so pleased to see PMBUG having an open mind and welcoming us so graciously with open arms. I'd (respectfully) ask that all my fellow refugees understand that this forum is not GIM. Believe it or not, I believe it has the ability to be BETTER. Make your suggestions, but also understand that while we are members here, we are not the FOUNDERS, This is a symbiotic relationship. This long-established forum is now being reinvigorated with a large influx of members from a site that is going away, and I'm sure that the activity and new level of content will be welcomed, but there will be growing pains. We are like a bunch of immigrants crossing the border. We can't expect our new home to be exactly like where we came from. So please be patient. We are asking ONE PERSON to handle all this transition, and it is a LOT of work. Good to see we have some of the mods from our old home (we all trusted their judgement). Maybe they can help PMBUG to lighten the load if this becomes too much and he deems it necessary. All that aside, I'm glad to be here!!!

As a nearly-losted refugee, I am very pleased to have narrowly avoided not getting here -- there's a load of old friends and neighbors moving into a new town.

I've already gotten lost on some of the unfamiliar streets.

Oh... I gets to axe: Did I lose my geriatric lead? (While I am not cheating, I am getting older as fast as I can.) Anybody beat 1940?

Well, I went searching the Xenforo site just now to see about the 'scroll down' button and discovered that feature is built into the base forum software and just needed a setting changed. So... It's done. Enjoy.

Good to see you here, brother.

Uh oh, I just noticed this in another thread.

there is a 10,000 word limit...

That might crimp the style of a few of our GIMmers who are sometimes prone to being what might be considered "book posters".
(Refers to long walls of text that ends up being scroll bait for most. Lol )
....and no @pmbug , I'm not askin' you to change the setting.

Listen, PMB has welcomed us, if you don't like the format & are gonna keep nitpicking things, leave.
Try to have some class when entering someone elses house...

Virtual imitates life.

It's just like my town in Montana...with California burping up people, daily. This new home of mine, a Montana big-city (five square miles across) has DOUBLED in size in the last ten years, with no sign of stopping it's cancerous growth.

Chaos. Online and in-life.

The trolls will move into GIM soon, in fact it has started. I warned him.

I’m aware of at least one.

Maybe just wishful thinking but I'm hoping it doesn't happen.

GIMers both as a group and individually got pretty lucky. Their hangout on the interwebs is soon to close. And now they have a new hangout thanks to our host Bug and our mod Big Jim. Our host has welcomed us into his house with open arms and has gone outta his way to accommodate us in every way possible. Big Jim let peeps know about this place and has worked pretty hard to help people make the transition.

We not only owe both of them thanks, but we owe them respect not to crap the place up. Be nice if we, as a group and individually could put aside any angst, animosity or resentment that may have carried over from GIM for any dirty deeds, real or imagined, that were done dirt cheap.

We have a new start here. Give everyone the benefit of the doubt and move forward in a positive direction.

That's my plan.

Why did Scorpio recently delete all of his threads/posts on GIM if he was already planning on destroying the entire database?

Why wait? Start now and cover everything from prepping the ground to the next harvest?

Well this is a delightful change in attitude! Someone who knows how the software works for a change!

I was gonna ask, but didn't want to wear out my welcome....

Good idea. People do evolve over time. Some more than others.

That would be the $64,000 question!! Archive.org has it all anyway....

I'm guessing he's just looking for some more privacy and wants to be done. I think the whole Trump thing wore on him along with this GD bear market and manipulation which has delayed the inevitable for far too long.

Oh, and I made it. Thanks for the help guys.

We don't know why; Scorpio isn't telling why; and he's not inviting questions.

It is what it is. Once the board is closed, it's none of our business.

We were quite fortunate to have time to rearrange things. More so in that there's similar places still up. We ARE going to lose some people - we really needed to get an email chain together, but that never happened.

Just as we lost stackers to Coof and Pfizer, we'll lose more in this move. What the next negative thing is, I don't know. I do know that when we're reduced to eating our preps, there will be no using the InterwebZ for the halibut. It will be the real thing.

Ah, it's OK. I appreciate constructive criticism. Let me know what I can do better.
Bug, I did give you fair warning awhile back... 'be prepared to be inundated by GIMMERS' or something like that...?

I hope everyone donates to the site just to make your life a bit easier. Heck, who knows? You might be able to quit your day job!?

Even stuff on the private parts of the forum? Google and the bots have a login?

If that's why, I have a hunch that his patience may have fallen just a bit short.
....but we'll all find together.
