Olympics Has Fallen...

Apparently there's a pisstake of "Olympus Has Fallen" that the media are pinning on the Russians as part of a cyber attack on the Paris games in a months time. Does anyone with a Twitter or Insta account know if the video is on those platforms?

Yeldos Smetov is a Kazakh judoka who competes in the -60 kg weight division. He is the most decorated Kazakh judoka of all time. In 2010, he won the Junior World Championships; in 2015, he was crowned the Senior World Champion. He is also a two-time world bronze medalist. Smetov has won gold, silver, and bronze medals in Olympic games, most recently in 2024. He is known for his consistency, willpower, and dynamic style of Judo. His main throws are Seoi Nage, Uchi Mata, Tai Otoshi and Ura Nage. He also has deceptively good ground skills.

Army soldiers in the Olympics - The World Class Athlete Program​

Soldiers in the US Army could have a chance to compete in the Olympics on Team USA. In the recent 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris, several members of the US Army were on team USA and even earned Olympic medals, such as CPT Samantha Sullivan, who got bronze in rugby.

So, how do soldiers get an opportunity to do that? That comes from US Army soldiers in the World Class Athlete Program (WCAP).

Cardio today. Mid 80s and humid. Cut the grass and trimmed wearing sweat suit, 10 lb backpack w/2 lb ankle weights. Two hours. Not beat but am fatigued. It's a good fatigue.

Not too shabby for a 71-year-old.

Same thing today - different property, more trimming. Not fatigued today. Doing stuff like this is actually a good workout. Think I'll walk the neighborhood tomorrow w/ankle wghts.

Real Life Boxing #20 - Frank Gilfeather​

In this episode we have the honour of speaking to the legendary Frank Gilfeather.

Frank Gilfeather (born 30 December 1945, Lochee, Dundee, Scotland) is a Scottish journalist and broadcaster. Gilfeather, a former Scottish amateur boxing champion from Dundee, moved to Aberdeen in April 1969 and began work on the Press & Journal and the Evening Express as a general news reporter. Later, when personnel was allocated to each paper, he was a news reporter on the P&J for some years before moving to the evening newspaper's sports desk as chief sportswriter and deputy sports editor. His broadcasting career began in 1980 with the launch of the Grampian Television (now STV North) regional news programme, North Tonight. Gilfeather joined the programme as a sports correspondent although he would later also work on news coverage. As well as reporting for North Tonight, Gilfeather fronted the North Tonight spin-off Summer at Six and popular local quiz show Top Club which ran for nine years. He also worked on general election coverage for ITN and has been featured in out-takes on LWT's It'll be Alright on the Night.
Gilfeather also fronted STV and Grampian TV's shinty highlights coverage between the mid-1980s and early-1990s, for which the shinty matches were simiculast on both channels throughout this time.
