Impossible@87?

At age 87 Peter Hartmann did the im-possible, sailing solo his 52 Ft. sailboat weighing over 30 tons across the vast Pacific Ocean. This voyage began in Nuevo Vallarta, Nayarit, Mexico, and ended on Majuro Atoll in the Marshall Islands, after 5,340 Nautical Miles (9,890 Km). In 44 days at sea Peter did not sight a single other vessel. The average daily mileage was 123 Nm (228 Km), the best day yielded 149 Nm (276 Km). This voyage was very relaxed and most enjoyable, thanks to very favorable weather. Last year’s crossing from Majuro to Nuevo Vallarta was much more difficult because that is the ‘Wrong Direction”, as shown in the video of that voyage. To avoid most of the adverse currents and winds Peter had to sail as far north as past 39º North (about 100 Nm north of San Francisco’s latitude) scribing a huge arch before dropping back south to latitude 20º North of Bahia Banderas.

Ahaluna is a wooden boat, heavily sheathed in fibreglass, built by Peter from scratch 47 years ago, with a little help from his friends. His video “Build of a Lifetime” describes this build.

This type of adventure keeps Peter healthy, nimble, and alert. Clean and healthy food and supplements are essential to his good health, as are his chiropractic and calisthenic exercises. Peter makes Intentions for the Highest Good. Clear thought and spirituality are perhaps the most important ingredients leading to this healthy lifestyle.

Join Peter on this, his second solo Pacific crossing in just over a year.

Salvage Mission in the North Sea | The Salvage Masters | Autentic Documentary

Sep 11, 2024
In summer of 2013, the Dutch government began an extraordinary campaign to clean out the nation’s channels of old shipwrecks, silent dangers rusting under the surface for decades. This episode tracks the clearing of Dutch navigation channels from four dangerous underwater hazards in order to foster safer sea transport.
From its windswept shores to quaint cities with their windmills and quiet canals, the Netherlands depends on water as its lifeline. But hidden below the surface of Dutch waters lie hundreds of sunken ships, threatening the nation’s livelihood. As the world’s sea trade grows in size, Europe’s maritime gateway must remain free.
The waterways of the Netherlands are the vital lifeline for the whole of Europe. The wrecks either need to be removed or reduced in height to ensure free passage of the giant cargo ships that Europe’s economy depends on. The four wrecks to be salvaged in this job were an unknown wreck lying at the bottom of the Ijeul channel, the Ariana cargo ship which blocked the Westerscheld waterway, the Jan Breydel fishing boat lying in the entry channel to Rotterdam’s Europort and a 1860s steamship lying off the island of Vlieland.
