Moments after President Joe Biden’s son Hunter was found guilty on three felony charges for lying on a gun-purchase background-check form, President Donald Trump offered to defend the first son’s Second Amendment rights.

“Hunter Biden is a terrible person who has funneled millions of dollars from other countries to his father,” Trump said in a statement. “Even so, it is hard to blame him for wanting a gun, which he has a God-given right to have under the 2nd Amendment. Probably the greatest Amendment of them all, if we’re being totally honest.”

Department of Justice (DOJ) prosecutors allege Hunter Biden was paid by a Romanian oligarch to "influence U.S. policy and public opinion," while his father, Joe Biden, was vice president, according to new documents.

The documents were filed by Special Counsel David Weiss in the Central District of California on Wednesday. The filings pertain to Hunter Biden's tax trial in California.

The allegations are the closest prosecutors have come to tying President Biden to his son's overseas business dealings.

President Joe Biden has decided to issue a pardon for his son Hunter and is expected to announce it Sunday night, according to a senior White House official with direct knowledge of the decision, NBC News exclusively learned.

The decision marks a reversal for the president, who has repeatedly said he would not use his executive authority to pardon his son or commute his sentence. The pardon comes ahead of Hunter Biden’s Dec. 12 sentencing for his conviction on federal gun charges. Hunter Biden also is set to be sentenced in a separate criminal case on Dec. 16, after pleading guilty in September on federal tax evasion charges.

The pardon is expected to cover both Hunter Biden’s gun charges conviction and guilty plea, the people with direct knowledge of the discussions said.

The senior White House official said Biden decided over this weekend to grant his son a pardon and began to inform his senior aides on Sunday.

Let's just say the in-yer-face attitude, the contempt, is what's shocking.

It's already been decided, by investigators, that Depends Joe is not competent. "An old guy with a bad memory" was how they put it, dealing with the kind of crime they arrested Trump for in a guns-drawn raid.

So can someone who's not mentally competent, but thanks to his corrupt party, still holding office...can he pardon someone?

CAN ANY PRESIDENT PARDON MEMBERS OF HIS OWN FAMILY. That has not been examined in court. It sure as hell should be.

CAN ANYONE BE PARDONED PRIOR TO CONVICTION OR EVEN INDICTMENT? Only Nixon was given such a pardon, and - once he was out - there was never a chance of actual criminal charges. Ford did it because that was the deal.

A corrupt deal that probably wouldn't have stood up to legal examination. NOW is the time - this guy is a pedophile, possessing child porn, photographed in sexual congress with little kids. Taking graft from foreign governments, and serving as a bagman for the President of the United States.

Such a President could NOT, IMHO, legally pardon himself or his underlings. Now is the time to settle THAT question.
 
So if he committed any murders in that time frame he is pardoned? Raping little girls in that time frame and he is pardoned? I'm with CJ on this. Not sure a blanket pardon should hold up in any court and especially given by an incompetent person who is not competent to stand trial.

A Presidential Pardon only covers federal crimes, not State crimes.

Murder and rape are covered by State law.

In general, this pardon removes the possibility of charges for any of his his dealings with Burisma.

Today, I signed a pardon for my son Hunter. From the day I took office, I said I would not interfere with the Justice Department’s decision-making, and I kept my word even as I have watched my son being selectively, and unfairly, prosecuted. Without aggravating factors like use in a crime, multiple purchases, or buying a weapon as a straw purchaser, people are almost never brought to trial on felony charges solely for how they filled out a gun form. Those who were late paying their taxes because of serious addictions, but paid them back subsequently with interest and penalties, are typically given non-criminal resolutions. It is clear that Hunter was treated differently.

The charges in his cases came about only after several of my political opponents in Congress instigated them to attack me and oppose my election. Then, a carefully negotiated plea deal, agreed to by the Department of Justice, unraveled in the court room – with a number of my political opponents in Congress taking credit for bringing political pressure on the process. Had the plea deal held, it would have been a fair, reasonable resolution of Hunter’s cases.

No reasonable person who looks at the facts of Hunter’s cases can reach any other conclusion than Hunter was singled out only because he is my son – and that is wrong. There has been an effort to break Hunter – who has been five and a half years sober, even in the face of unrelenting attacks and selective prosecution. In trying to break Hunter, they’ve tried to break me – and there’s no reason to believe it will stop here. Enough is enough.

For my entire career I have followed a simple principle: just tell the American people the truth. They’ll be fair-minded. Here’s the truth: I believe in the justice system, but as I have wrestled with this, I also believe raw politics has infected this process and it led to a miscarriage of justice – and once I made this decision this weekend, there was no sense in delaying it further. I hope Americans will understand why a father and a President would come to this decision.

Those words would carry a lot more weight if the pardon were limited to the those offenses instead of being a blanket that covers all the malfeasance of their Ukraine shenanigans from 2014 through 2025. As it is, that reads like a poorly veiled excuse for CYA over the laptop contents and Ukraine influence peddling / money laundering schemes.
 
The pedophile has been a liar and a grifter his entire life. This should come as a surprise to nobody.

Besides, on what planet does anyone expect a democrat to keep their word?
